TL;DR
HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Zoho, and Salesforce compared on real social publishing, unified DM inboxes, lead ads sync, and what each actually costs per month.
→ See how this applies to your business (free 30-min call)The right CRM depends on which social channel actually produces your revenue. Short version: HubSpot if you need real Instagram/Facebook/LinkedIn publishing plus inbox unification inside the CRM ($800–$890/mo for Marketing Pro at 2,000 contacts, plus a $1,500 one-time onboarding fee). GoHighLevel if you're a US service business under $5M and want Facebook/Instagram/Google Business Profile DMs, lead ads, and missed-call text-back in one $97–$497/mo account. Zoho CRM if you want the cheapest legitimate social layer — $40/user/mo Professional plus $10–$40/mo for Zoho Social. Salesforce only if you already run Salesforce and can absorb $165/user/mo plus a Social Studio replacement. Everything below is the part vendors leave out.
What "social media integration" actually means (four different things)
Vendors sell one word for four capabilities, and buying the wrong one is the most common $10,000 mistake we see:
Roughly 80% of buyers searching this query think they want #1 and actually need #2 and #3. A plumbing company doesn't lose deals because Tuesday's post went out late. It loses them because an Instagram DM at 6:47 p.m. sat unread until 9:15 the next morning.
The speed-to-lead number that decides the whole thing
Lead response research going back to the InsideSales/Harvard Business Review study found contact rates drop roughly 10x between a 5-minute and a 30-minute callback, and qualification odds drop about 21x between 5 minutes and 30 minutes. That finding is old but it has never been contradicted, and social leads decay faster than form fills because the person is mid-scroll.
Native Meta lead ads deliver into a CRM in seconds. A Zapier-style bridge on a free or Starter plan polls on a 2–15 minute interval, which quietly converts your 5-minute response into a 20-minute one. If your CRM's "Facebook integration" is actually a Zap, you're paying for the feature and not receiving it.
Real 2026 pricing, with the fees nobody quotes
| Platform | Entry social-capable tier | Realistic year-one cost | What breaks |
|---|---|---|---|
| GoHighLevel | $97/mo Starter | $1,164–$5,964 | Support quality; you own the setup |
| HubSpot | $20/mo Starter (no social) | $11,100+ (Marketing Pro + onboarding) | Contact-tier pricing escalates hard |
| Zoho CRM + Social | $40/user/mo + $10/mo | $2,520 for 5 users | Two products, two UIs |
| Salesforce Sales Cloud Pro | $165/user/mo | $9,900 for 5 users + integration | Social Studio retired Nov 2024 |
| Pipedrive Professional | $59/user/mo | $3,540 for 5 users + $29/mo Marketplace tools | No native social inbox |
The number that surprises people: HubSpot's social tools live in Marketing Hub Professional, not the CRM. Marketing Pro starts at $800/mo for 2,000 marketing contacts, adds roughly $250/mo per additional 5,000 contacts, and carries a mandatory $1,500 onboarding fee. A 12,000-contact list runs about $1,300/mo — $17,100 in year one. Buyers who budget $50/mo for "HubSpot" are off by 20x.
The CRM that wins isn't the one with the most channel logos on the integrations page. It's the one where a DM at 6:47 p.m. gets a reply at 6:48.
The thing no comparison article tells you: Meta's 24-hour messaging window
Facebook and Instagram enforce a 24-hour standard messaging window. After a user's last message, you have 24 hours to respond freely. Past that, you can send exactly one message under the "human agent" tag — and Meta's human agent tag extends the window to 7 days, but only for genuine human replies, not automation.
This kills the most common CRM social workflow we see: a 5-day drip sequence built for email, pointed at Messenger. Days 2 through 5 silently fail. The CRM reports "sent." Meta never delivers. We've audited accounts where 40–60% of social nurture messages were being rejected at the API layer with no visible error in the CRM dashboard.
Instagram adds a second trap: DM automation requires a Professional account connected to a Facebook Page, and Instagram caps comment-to-DM automation separately. If your CRM's Instagram feature was built before the 2023 Messenger API for Instagram changes, it may still be scraping — which gets accounts restricted.
Ask any vendor two questions before you sign: *Do you honor the 24-hour window with an automatic pause?* and *Do you support the human agent tag?* Most reps cannot answer either.
When this is a bad purchase — read this before you buy
This is the section that costs us business, so here it is straight.
Do not buy a social-integrated CRM if you get fewer than roughly 15 social leads a month. At 10 leads/mo, a $497/mo GoHighLevel account costs $49.70 per lead in software alone. A $0 shared inbox — one iPad on the counter, Meta Business Suite open, one person responsible — outperforms it. We've told prospects this and lost the deal. It was still the right answer.
Do not buy if nobody owns response time. Software does not create urgency. A CRM that routes DMs to a queue nobody watches produces a slower response than a phone that rings, because the phone is annoying and the queue is not. Assign a name and a target — under 5 minutes during business hours — before you assign a budget.
Do not buy HubSpot Marketing Pro under $2M revenue unless you have a genuine content operation. At $800/mo you need roughly $9,600/yr of incremental margin just to break even. For a $6,000 average-ticket roofer at 35% margin, that's about 5 extra closed jobs a year — achievable. For a $180 average-ticket salon, it's 152 extra clients. Run the math on your own numbers before the demo, or use our ROI calculator.
Do not expect real social attribution. iOS App Tracking Transparency, opt-in rates in the 20–35% range, and 7-day-click/1-day-view default windows mean Meta's reported conversions and your CRM's closed-won records will disagree by 20–40%. Anyone promising clean last-touch social attribution for a business with a 30–90 day sales cycle is selling you a dashboard, not a truth.
Failure modes we see repeatedly:
How to pick in 30 minutes
The 14-day test that beats any demo
Before committing to an annual contract, run this on a monthly plan:
Connect one Facebook Page and one Instagram Professional account. Time it. Over 45 minutes means the integration is fragile.
Have someone outside the company DM you at 8:15 p.m. Measure time-to-notification. Anything over 2 minutes is a routing problem.
Run one $50 Meta lead ad. Confirm the lead lands in the CRM in under 60 seconds with the full field set.
Send a message 26 hours after last contact and check whether it delivers or errors. This is the single most revealing test.
Export your contacts. If export is gated behind a support ticket, walk.
Most CRMs pass 1 and 3. Roughly half fail 4. The ones that pass all five are worth paying for.
If you'd rather have someone run the audit than run it yourself, that's what our free marketing audit is — we'll check token health, response times, and whether your social nurture sequences are actually being delivered. And if the honest answer is that you don't need new software, we'll tell you that, because the alternative is a client who churns in month four.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does "social media integration" actually mean in a CRM?
It covers four separate capabilities vendors bundle under one label: publishing and scheduling posts, unifying social DMs and comments into one inbox, syncing lead-form ads into contact records, and enriching contacts with social profile data. Most CRMs do one or two well, not all four.
Which CRM is cheapest for social media integration?
Zoho is the cheapest legitimate option: Zoho CRM Professional at $40 per user monthly plus Zoho Social at $10 to $40 monthly for the social layer. GoHighLevel is cheaper at scale since its $97 to $497 monthly price covers unlimited users rather than charging per seat.
Does HubSpot include social media posting in its free CRM?
No. Social publishing and monitoring require Marketing Hub Professional, which runs $800 to $890 monthly at 2,000 contacts and carries a mandatory $1,500 one-time onboarding fee. The free CRM and Starter tiers include contact management and email but no native social scheduling tools.
What happened to Salesforce Social Studio?
Salesforce retired Social Studio, so Salesforce customers now need a third-party replacement such as Sprout Social or Hootsuite for publishing and social listening. Budget for that tool on top of Sales Cloud at roughly $165 per user monthly, which makes Salesforce the costliest path to social integration.
